Musée du Quai Branly, Paris

What are the characteristics of this museum?

It is located between Alma Bridge and lena bridge, on the left Bank of the Seine. The specificity of this museum is that it is really modern and paradoxically it is devoted to primitive art. You can find 3500 artifacts from all parts of the world. The Musée du Quai Branly houses four remarkably rich and precious collections, which it conserves, manages and documents with a dual aim in view. Firstly, they must be presented to the general public through regular rotation of artifacts in the permanent collections area and during temporary exhibitions; secondly, they must serve as useful and accessible resources for students, teachers and researchers worldwide.

What should there be in a travelers bag performing this activity ?

You must not forget money to buy stuff to eat in the garden of the museum, that is very convenient and nice. You will enjoy a beautiful landscape.

How can transportation be provided for this travel activity?

By the underground , you can take RER C : station «  Pont de l'alma » , or  the subway , line 9 , station «  Alma-Marceau » .
You can also take the favorite cool Parisian way to travel: Velib! (Bike … SO HYPE)

Where can the traveler accommodate?

In Paris, there are a lot of hotels, often really expensive

How long does this activity last?

You can choose by yourself, in this museum, you can go very fast but you can also choose to stay for a movie, (there’s a cinema), and a conference room, where you can listen to lectures. This is fascinating .This museum is really interesting , even if he's not that big ,  you must spend at least 1 hour there to enjoy it.

How much money is needed for this activity?

For the permanent collection, it costs 8 Euros for adults and 6 Euros for children.

Why should a traveler do this activity?

We all have to learn to appreciate culture of other ancient civilizations, to respect it; it will help you to be open minded.  Last, it's rare to find places in Europe devoted to the primitive art of other countries people; it's a must when you come to Paris.

What a beautiful place!

Plants travel around Europe

Convinced of the importance of natural and ecotourism, the CD “Plants travel around Europe” has been conceived as a particular landscape of our project, with its genuine flavors.  It contains a description of the local vegetation and traditional plants, some of them used in the kitchens of our countries.  Photographs illustrate the descriptions and bibliography enables a further investigation.

The Garden in Portugal

Although uncompleted, coordinators from the seven partner schools decided to maintain the Garden in Portugal as one of the most emotive outcomes of our project.  Seeds of plants from the local flora in each country were sent to the school in Portugal.  Students of Tourism and Gardening from Ferreira do Zêzêre collected and let them germinate.  They created a greenhouse, which unfortunately was damaged by a destructive tornado at the beginning of 2011.  A big part of the garden got lost.

Comenius project "Let's Travel": a little bit of our work and history

The work plan and the tasks have just slightly changed in the Comenius project “Let’s Travel!”.  There were ten schools on application stage and the project was finally granted in six European schools and in Turkey.  In the first project meeting in Flensburg, Germany, coordinators decided just to overtake one of the tasks of the schools which the project was not admitted at: the Polish school partner developed the evaluation activities through its questionnaires and a PowerPoint Presentation.  The school in Paris did not just one, but four radio Clype programs.  The school in Umbria, Italy, created not just the calendar “Let’s Travel 2012!”, but also the project logo, which was not foreseen as one of its tasks on application stage.  The Portuguese school in Ferreira do Zêzêre had big problems with the Garden because of a destructive hurricane, and the major part of the seeds sent by the other six partner school for the garden got lost.  The Turkish tasks didn’t change in its contents, by slightly concerning to the format.  On one hand the school in Iskenderun analysed and investigated on different kinds of Tourism and all school partners developed documents and videos.  On the other hand the Turkish team published a brochure on Tourism in all regions.  The Spanish coordinating school on Minorca Island added to its tasks the one of creating, not just the Project Blog, but also the TwinSpace project “Let’s Travel! Mailing Europe” for cooperative work, interaction and communication.  Partner schools did eight mobility meetings.  France and Italy offered to hold two of them,  so that each partner school could visit all other countries.

Project Meetings Evaluation "Let's Travel!" - Power Point Presentation

"The most memorable moment was when I saw for the first time,
during the dinner for teachers at the Lycée Colbert,
in that great room from the 19 century,
a bottle of champagne with the label of the Comenius Program".

Project Logo “Let’s Travel!”

Italian students of Graphic Design created the Project Logo, which visually identifies and makes easier to recognize all the countries of the partnership. The logo was applied in all partner schools and to all activities and products arising from the project: Blogs, TwinSpace, calendar, videos, brochures, documents, leaflets, gadgets, mobility activities, etc.
