Calendar's Presentation

Our Calendar “Let’s Travel 2012!” is a mosaic of the European variety. It possesses the multicoloured creativity of Italian artists from Umbria, and the strength and precision of Portuguese artisans’ hands. It contains the force of fortified castle walls in Poland. It releases the flavour of a fresh croissant in a Parisian café and the smell of spices in a Turkish bazaar. It tastes like the rum made of brown sugar canes imported from the Caribbean Sea to a north German harbour. It beats according to the rhythm of breaking waves against the island’s cliffs crowned by a Mediterranean light house.

Giostra della Quintana- Foligno - Umbria - Italy

ANNOUNCEMENT

e nembi di polve e volitar di piume e grida e gioia et urla di Vittoria,
Tutti accorrete e rimirate i prodi!
Tutti scendete ne le Piazze, ne le Vie e nel Campo de li Giochi!
E fate festa a’ cavalieri vostri!
Tutte accorrete, o genti de’ Rioni, tutte accorrete a gioir di Vittoria,
anco se arride altrui, ché la concordia e l’amor de la Cittade tutta
son pur Vittoria e bella e grande!

Our calendar - the Polish page (January)

Every second Sunday of January since 1993 The Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity (WOŚP in Polish) tries to save the lives of people.

This year - thanks to Comenius project "Let`s travel" - we decided to do something special for WOŚP. Adrian and Tomek agreed to play between lessons in the school hallway.

Some ginger - breads baked by Przemek`s mother for WOŚP.
Delicious and so much worth!

A part of Comenius group took part in the great final of WOŚP in a centre of Zabrze. We were trying to be really generous. Grain to grain...:)

This is a greeting of WOŚP. It means something like "hello". The photo was taken in January 2011 in our school after 2 days with live music. Two of our students were playing for WOŚP during breaks and the whole school was collecting money for sick children in Poland.
One of guitarists is holding his beloved instrument.

This is a logo of The Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity which was made by Gosia (12 years, our student`s sister).

23 April: "Sant Jordi" World Book Day

My Saint George

My Saint George is tall, tall and thin and also short and thick,

Nice, fun, ironic and, at the same time, serious, well-educated and witty.

Though sometimes quite long, it can be a light read,

You’ll get to the end in the blink of an eye.

Antique and also the latest release,

Rural, although also found in big cities,

A friend of libraries and shelves in many houses,

Widely read, admired and found in many languages,

Madness often hand in hand with common sense.

My Saint George is the best, my Saint George is…

to have a good book in my hands.

* This is a poem written by one of our students dedicated to Saint George. On 23 April we celebrate the Day of the Book by giving books and roses to our loved ones.

Calendar ("Let's travel! 2012")

Dear colleagues and partners,

My name is Maria Paola and I am a graphic teacher at I.I.S. ORFINI FOLIGNO .
It is an honor for me and for my students to be involved in this interesting project and we hope to confirm your hopes and expectations !

I would like to give some information about the Calendar that our school is going to project, so that you can start producing each contribute .
Each country will have 2 pages ( two months) that will be filled with each school contribution according to the following table:

ITALY FIRST PAGE LAST PAGE
POLAND JANUARY JULY
GERMANY FEBRUARY AUGUST
FRANCE MARCH SEPTEMBER
SPAIN APRIL OCTOBER
TURKEY MAY NOVEMBER
PORTUGAL JUNE DECEMBER

Each page ( each month) will cover a topic :
• one page ( month) is about a popular feast or local event
• another page ( month) should be a sort of touristic promotion of your town, region…..

Italian students will think about the planning, the graphic design and the implementation of the calendar that is to say we will study size, layout and graphics of the whole calendar.

In this way, the calendar will have a coordinated image visually recognizable but
each page will be “personalized” trying to be closer to the style of the country of reference.

The possibilities are endless, and we need to get to work and prepare the material .

In order to illustrate the topic you can send photos or you can choose other different artistic techniques such as collages, drawings, paintings and so on. In this case you need to take pictures of these works and send us in JPEG format.

Please prepare :
- 2 texts in Word, font Arial 12, with non more than 100/130 words (1 text for each topic)
- 12 photos ( six for each page ) eventually in order of preference , JPEG format,
minimum resolution 300 dpi
- your school logo in JPEG format, minimum resolution 150 dpi
I ask you to send me this material before the end of FEBRUARY (deadline), so that our students can work and present some samples of the calendar when you come to Italy .

Thank you
Maria Paola
