Lycée Colbert (Paris, France)

Lycée Colbert is located in the North East of Paris, close to Gare du Nord and Gare de l’Est. It is a classical Lycée, with students aged from 14 to 19, from various origins. A lot of families face financial difficulties, and do not have the opportunity to travel a lot. Many of them come from Northern Africa, but also from Eastern Europe, China or India.

There are approximately 600 students in 22 classes, and 60 teachers. English, Spanish, German, Russian and Hebrew are taught and the students have to learn two foreign languages. Some subjects are optional, such as arts or economy. There are also extra curricular activities such as drama, sports or cinema.

Our principal intends to start a Classe européenne next year, which is a class in which a subject such as history or science is taught in a foreign language, most of the time English. So The Comenius programme is an opportunity for our students to get acquainted with students from all over Europe and exchange ideas and experiences.
