Plants travel around Europe

Convinced of the importance of natural and ecotourism, the CD “Plants travel around Europe” has been conceived as a particular landscape of our project, with its genuine flavors.  It contains a description of the local vegetation and traditional plants, some of them used in the kitchens of our countries.  Photographs illustrate the descriptions and bibliography enables a further investigation.

The Garden in Portugal

Although uncompleted, coordinators from the seven partner schools decided to maintain the Garden in Portugal as one of the most emotive outcomes of our project.  Seeds of plants from the local flora in each country were sent to the school in Portugal.  Students of Tourism and Gardening from Ferreira do Zêzêre collected and let them germinate.  They created a greenhouse, which unfortunately was damaged by a destructive tornado at the beginning of 2011.  A big part of the garden got lost.

Students of the Profissional Course of Envitonmental and Rural Tourism worked very motivated in this project.

Plants travel around Europe - sowing

We bought two small indoor greenhouses to germinate plants.

We planted all the seeds, we have received from Spain, Italy, France, Turkey and Germany, we wait for the seeds from Poland.

Abroad also we sow some seeds outdoor, creating a small pond.
We look for plants.

Dear partners,

Water Sports in Ferreira do Zêzere - Santarém, Portugal

What are the characteristics of this type of tourism?
Ferreira do Zêzere is a small area in the centre of Portugal. It has got this name because  river Zêzere crosses it and establishes its own limits.
The proximity to the lake Castelo do Bode or Lago Azul (Blue Lake) is possibly the key to the town’s popularity. It is located only seven kilometres from the town centre.
It’s the perfect place for people who love watersports: kayaking, canoeing, fishing, boating and sailing.
What should there be in the bag of the traveler performing this trip?
The traveler will need some food, plenty of water, sunglasses, special clothes (shorts,       t-shirts), suntan protection and, optionally, a sleeping bag and a tent if they are planning to camp near the river.
How can transportation be provided for this trip?
The nearest airport is Lisbon Airport, which is about 140 km away. There are many airlines flying there (TAP, easyjet, British Airways, AirFrance, etc) so it is possible to find a cheap ticket if you reserve in advance.
Renting a car at the airport is a comfortable option, but public transport is also available.  Buses connect the airport with the town centre. Trains drive you to Tomar every hour.

Where can the traveler accommodate during this trip?
Accommodation is possible in some hotels, houses and apartments from 49 euros per night. It is specially popular the Hotel Estalagem Lago Azul because of its nice location.

Some options can be considered clicking this link.

How long does this trip last? (Minimum time -day)
A minimum of two or three days to be able to discover that beautiful area and practice some sport.

How much money is needed for this trip?
It depends on how long are you planning to stay and the type of accommodation you choose.

Why should a traveller do this trip? What will the traveller’s benefit be?
Because it's a good place to go on holiday. There are many activities and sports to do and there also are  interesting historical places. And it is possible to find great and cheap hotels!
Ferreira do Zêzere is always a good option.

Cristiana from Portugal travelling to Italy

Hello, I'm Cristiana Rosa, I'm 15 years old and live in Ferreira do Zêzere.
I'm tall, skinny, have brown eyes that change color, brown, long and curly hair.
In my day there's always music (because in future I would like to follow music as a clarinettist), my life is made of many dreams, I'm left handed, I laugh of ridicule, crying because I will, crying with laughter, I'm fickle, I have a confident smile that sometimes do not show much of the insecurity behind it, when I am unwell (almost) anyone can tell me or put up with.
I'm confident, funny, stubborn, I love a challenge, I squeeze out impatient, sometimes competitive, ambitious and selfish, I get angry easily, I like to go out, I lose interest quickly, I am courageous, dynamic, energetic, considerate, sincere, generous, independent, active, very bad liar, I hate lies, hurried, restless, impulsive, like lead, do not admit defeat, can sometimes be insensitive, but rarely hold grudges.
I have a good brain but I like to act first and think later, I take sudden decisions. I am a person who sacrifices for others when they realize they need help. I am very creative and communicative, curious, adventurous, I encourage everyone around me, I have an infectious enthusiasm, I'm friendly, smiling, upbeat, friendly, love to party and can not control my habit of talking.
