Musée du Quai Branly, Paris

What are the characteristics of this museum?

It is located between Alma Bridge and lena bridge, on the left Bank of the Seine. The specificity of this museum is that it is really modern and paradoxically it is devoted to primitive art. You can find 3500 artifacts from all parts of the world. The Musée du Quai Branly houses four remarkably rich and precious collections, which it conserves, manages and documents with a dual aim in view. Firstly, they must be presented to the general public through regular rotation of artifacts in the permanent collections area and during temporary exhibitions; secondly, they must serve as useful and accessible resources for students, teachers and researchers worldwide.

What should there be in a travelers bag performing this activity ?

You must not forget money to buy stuff to eat in the garden of the museum, that is very convenient and nice. You will enjoy a beautiful landscape.

How can transportation be provided for this travel activity?

By the underground , you can take RER C : station «  Pont de l'alma » , or  the subway , line 9 , station «  Alma-Marceau » .
You can also take the favorite cool Parisian way to travel: Velib! (Bike … SO HYPE)

Where can the traveler accommodate?

In Paris, there are a lot of hotels, often really expensive

How long does this activity last?

You can choose by yourself, in this museum, you can go very fast but you can also choose to stay for a movie, (there’s a cinema), and a conference room, where you can listen to lectures. This is fascinating .This museum is really interesting , even if he's not that big ,  you must spend at least 1 hour there to enjoy it.

How much money is needed for this activity?

For the permanent collection, it costs 8 Euros for adults and 6 Euros for children.

Why should a traveler do this activity?

We all have to learn to appreciate culture of other ancient civilizations, to respect it; it will help you to be open minded.  Last, it's rare to find places in Europe devoted to the primitive art of other countries people; it's a must when you come to Paris.

What a beautiful place!

Radio Clype Programmes "Let's travel!" [4]

Click on the image to listen to the Radio Clype programmes
Two different kinds of radio programmes were made during the two years.  One during the mobilities to Paris (January 2011, January 2012): French students interviewed their guests (students and teachers) about the visits they had made, the host families, their impressions, and the activities in Paris. These interviews were carried out within the studio of Radio Clype in Paris.  The other programme was made in each country and sent to France: in 2011, the students of the seven counties described a famous touristic place worth visiting, in English and their mother tongue. In 2012, students recorded one or several traditional recipes of their country or region.

Comenius Song "Let's travel!"

Zabrze, Poland (November 2011)

The Comenius song was composed (music and lyrics in French) by a group of French students and a teacher to welcome their guests on the first mobility to Paris. It was then used as a common link and a sort of hymn during the mobilities. It was translated into English by the Polish team and then into Catalan by the Spanish team; it was sung on the Day of Europe, May 9th 2012, during the last mobility to Spain.

Lycée Colbert (Paris, France)

Lycée Colbert is located in the North East of Paris, close to Gare du Nord and Gare de l’Est.
It is a classical Lycée, with students aged from 14 to 19, from various origins. A lot of families face financial difficulties, and do not have the opportunity to travel a lot. Many of them come from Northern Africa, but also from Eastern Europe, China or India. We also have bobos students, as our district which is close to the Canal Saint Martin is the home of a lot of artists.
There are approximately 600 students in 22 classes, and 60 teachers. English, Spanish, German, Russian and Hebrew are taught and the students have to learn two foreign languages. Some subjects are optional, such as arts or economy.
There are also extra curricular activities such as drama, sports or cinema.
Our principal intends to start a Classe européenne next year, which is a class in which a subject such as history or science is taught in a foreign language, most of the time English.
So The Comenius programme is an opportunity for our students to get acquainted with students from all over Europe and exchange ideas and experiences.

Radio Clype - 2nd Programme: Gastronomy

Here is the recipe for your recipe. Deadline: 15th November.

  1. Choose a traditional recipe (or more).
  2. Take two or three pupils to make it more lively (or even a whole class).
  3. Create a dialogue or a song or whatever you want to make the recipe worth listening.
  4. Add memories, or extracts or songs, or poems… related to that recipe.
  5. You can include different noises showing that you are actually cooking while you are talking.
  6. The whole programme should be about 5 minutes long.
  7. Send it before 15th November.
  8. Radio Clype will add the final touch.
  9. You should also write your recipe in the TwinSpace so that all the members can cook
  10. Take photos and compare the results!
